It's Parti Time!

As of today, we are the proud parents of this little guy, a Parti Yorkie without a name (well, he came with a registered name, but we are planning to change it). We picked him up from a small breeder in California's Central Valley today, and he has adapted to us shockingly well. He trotted out to our car without looking back, chased us around on some grass we found nearby for him to play in, and then snuggled contentedly in my wife's arms the whole trip home. He's inseparable from us (we'll see how that goes after the stay at home order is lifted -- maybe we'll get him a companion puppy), following us to and fro around the house, and he much prefers the food we bought for him to what the breeder sent home. He's snoozing on my belly as I write, probably happy for the warmth and attention.

He's on the older side for a puppy adoption - 4 months old - because the breeder had purchased him as a future stud but decided that he didn't quite meet the breed standard, so he became available, and I was on the wait list at the right time. She was keeping him in a puppy pen because he isn't fully house trained yet, but he did ask to go outside to poop, and when placed on a puppy pad, he did pee on it, so we are hopeful that the two other accidents so far will be trained away soon. He's only 2.8 pounds now, and the breeder expects him to stay under 5 pounds when fully grown. We are hoping for something on the larger side of that with proper care and feeding, although he's pretty sure to be smaller than our last Yorkie. Exciting times for us!
